stopped by the shop today to check on my baby. Gary has been having troubles matching the paint even with the right RPO code. i am sure it's cause the original paint has faded but when the car is cleared on the old stuff it looks awesome! so now the car has to be REpainted so it will match with the original paint. no big deal i trust Gary's work! he has a camera to take a pic of the original that matches the paint perfect so i am sure of his skills since he's been doing this for over 30 years.

sorry about the quality as these are taken from my mini dvd camcorder with no flash :(

he did suggest having the car totally repainted but not at this time due to finances for the other projects i got going. another problem he was having is the old clear coat kept peeling back once he was stripping it. where the old paint and new paint go together you can not tell at all because the clear coat. i can't wait to get her back either tomorrow or tuesday with out clear coat peeling all over the place and the car looking as good as when i bought it at 32k in miles :D

i'll keep ya'll filled in on the transformation!

Mic,

When are you dropping that other motor in?

I need to decide what to do with my 'Vette. It's a good driver right now but I want more and won't be satisfied until I get more.

Biggest thing to me is having to keep it emissions legal.

I've thought about the idea of throwing a ZZ383 in there. But then I would have to redo the transmission to handle the power, have the car painted and redo the suspension.

Then I thought about selling and getting an LT4 or a C5 FRC.

Yeah I am in the same boat as you Edmond. I want the car to be faster, all of my buddies cars are quicker in a straight line, and the one I am sure will out handle me with it being AWD. Hopefully I can do headers and do a gear swap and maybe that will pep the car up, I know I am young but it is just to slow...

The biggest thing for me is emissions. Being in Cook County, they're pretty bad on emissions. If I can't get the car to pass emissions, it's no good to me. They'll suspend your plates, suspend your license, etc...

However, for the '96 and newer cars, they don't run the car on the rollers for emissions. They just plug the OBDII in and if you don't throw codes, you pass.:D That's the big reason why I want something with OBDII, '96 or newer. I could do some radical stuff and as long as the lights stay off, I pass.:D

None of my buddies have a car faster than me. But I always want more power!:L

I have never seen that change, no matter how much power I have. I've not found a car faster than mine, but after hearing about a local 1000hp C-4, I have this litle urge.........

I wonder how Cook Co. stacks up against SoCal?

I won't even be the fastest guy on my own street.:L My neighbor is crazy with his cars!:D

I think you guys are the only people worse in the country than Cook County. They have a bunch of idiots working at the testing facilities. People you wouldn't want touching your car.

You have 3 chances to pass. If you fail, you can file for a 2 year waiver. However, you must:

show improvement with every test

have brought the car to a certified technician

spent at least $450 in emissions related equipment in your attempt to pass

There are other conditions but those are the main ones.

You don't pass, they suspend your plates. Or they'll suspend your license.

And when you fail, the idiots at the testing centers seem to take real joy in telling you so.

Only "good" thing is that they don't actually do an underhood inspection. Not that the idiots there would know what they're looking at or what they're looking for, though...

:D Hey Mick...nice car!..:D Were we ignoring you? I was initially thinking that the flexi-parts change color anyway, due to the flex agent added.

I guess I'd rather have the idiots (same out here) in a place where they are not actually working on cars. Water does seek its own level.

Edmond, I found a guy who did his car and passed, so I followed his recipe ( I thought). Turns out my cam is much mpore aggressive, but thanks to the custom chip by a fantastic Corvette shop/owner/driver, my car passed the sniffer, on a roller. Last year, I was to retest (every 2 years), but the state screwed up.. HaHaHaHa...Ha Ha.

Now, I am certain that the burning tire rubber would not pass the sniff test!;LOL

runs on pure Torque! :D

should be getting her back this afternoon around 6ish. if it's not raining i'll snap some pics if not saturday.

Mic, your car looks awesome! :upthumbs

Technically speaking, the bumper cover does not have to match the rest of the car. In fact, on all 3 C4s that I bought new, none of the bumpers matched the body of the car.

Of course, it is a personal choice if you want them to! ;)

Let us all know how it goes when you pick it up!

Save The Wave! :w
