I am having the updated optispark installed in my 92 this comming Monday via the recall. Does anyone know if the new optispark that will be insalled will for sure have the vaccuum assisted moisture remover and can I dare to wash my dusty engine compartment after I recieve the new optispark. Is there a safe way to wash the engine at all? SPIKE

use simple green and a low pressure hose.

I use a plant watering wand.

And don't get too much water down onto the opti.

Water and optispark

Bogus, when I purchased my 92 the guy I bought it from was washing the motor as I arrived, 10 miles down the road the engine started missing and surging, this condition lasted for days and I am told that I am very fortunate to not have been stranded by the incident. I cannot at this time fathom a rain drop on my "opti-SPERK"....I wonder if trying to cover the front of the engine with Glad Wrap might help the situation....You wouldn't be trying to give me BOGUS information would you (HEH-HEH) ? Just kidding pal..thanks for the info.. Spike

Recall info

Poorboy...er Dennis, Ifound out about the recall through registering my vehicles at the Autozone, com web site. However Rob directed me to the info here on CAC web site. You can easily pull up the entire info by going to my earlier in the day post entitled "RECALL OPTISPARK" and look for Rob's reply on a scroll down. I think this recall is for 92 Corvette's only. ..Spike

no BOGUS information!!!

thats why you use low pressure and not much water at all.

just don't get the front wet. and no high pressure!!!

I do this a couple of times a year, and it works fine.

the amount water that I use is less than what you would get in a heavy rain!!!

Wettin' the motor

Thank you much Bogus..I will wet her down just BEFORE I have the optispark replaced. Spike
