Hi everyone, I had the tires replaced by the dealer this week on my 2000 FRC C5 Z-51 Pkg, and seems to handle better. They told me there were two different colored shocks on the rear and were not sure if they were OEM shocks. I wanted to upgrade my rear shock for a little better ride and handeling. I Was looking at Bilstiens hd gas @ $79ea and also was very interested in the edelbrock performer aig? shocks $109 ea. I read a few articles about the edelbrocks from C5 owners and said they handle great!.....suggestions?? thanks Dr C5 Corvette

1997-04 Edelbrock Performer IAS Rear Shock Absorber

Unique Inertia Active System

Improves Handling Yet Delivers A Smooth Ride

Edelbrock's all-new Performer IAS shock absorbers dramatically reduce chassis roll around turns, yet deliver a smooth, comfortable ride. No other shock can offer this kind of performance because no other shock has their patented Inertia Active System. This unique system is soft on rough roads and firm on smooth roads to keep the tires firmly planted on the ground and the chassis stable. The result is a vehicle that's safer and more fun to drive. With Edelbrock, you get the best of both worlds...superior handling and comfort!

Hi there,
If I may suggest a different course of action.
2004 ZO6 shocks. These shocks were redesigned by the ride/handling engineers for 2004. They provide a level of control not seen in ZO6 from 2001 to 2003 on rough roads.
While smooth roads are a little bit more compliant, the rough road handling is substantially improved.
And, if installed at a GM dealership, will carry a lifetime warranty.
Allthebest, c4c5

Oh, Thats Nice, will it help me keep better control and help the rear tires stay planted under hard acceleration as well? I really am more into touring type suspension set up rather than drag type racing would this put me in the right direction? Also how much can I get a set of (4) Thanks..... Dr C5

Would it be a good idea to use these shocks on my 97? I would like to improve handling to match the power.

I believe that they would work. I know c4c5 talks highly of them.

Dr C5 Corvette, I purchased a set from GMPartsDirect.com this spring and installed them on my 98. Of course it rode and handled better cause with one front and one rear leaking shock fluid there was not a good before and after test. GMParts shipped promptly and I would use them again. Happy New Year. Jay

Hi Jay, Thanks for the info about the shocks........Dr C5
