Ive run into some zr1 style bumpers, front and rear. I was thinking about upgrading to them, but they are not factory, they are not urethane.. they are fiberglass. Is this a good thing or bad thing?

Pros and cons of each? why? why not? anyone? :cool

thanks

Fiberglass will suffer damage more easily than the urethane. I have thought of doing the fiberglass bumper covers sometime in the future maybe, but you have to be real careful where you park it. You don't want anything to hit it or it'll crack.

The fiberglass bumper covers are certainly straighter, and they're easier to paint as well. :cool

Keep in mind that the ZR-1 covers won't fit without extensive body modifications, i.e., quarter panels, door skins, etc. ;)

dang, thanks for the info ken. I wasnt even aware that zr-1 meant "wont fit". Would you know if atleast the front bumper would match up nicely? Then again I think ive lost interest, I dont plan on hitting anything, but stuff happens.

thanks man,

-chris

I'm not sure of what is required to use a ZR-1 front bumper. Maybe there's no difference and it's a direct swap. ;shrug

that means research for me! :cool

I like the 90s front bumper... but I like my round lights in the back =P

thanks

Who made them and whats the model# ?

There are tons of update kits out there for our years of vettes. They might be for our years of cars so they could bolt right up. Corvette Central has two products for you. Ones called true flex fiberglass, which is susposed to flex more than regular glass...,hmmm.
The other is called Ezee-fit which is designed to easily bolt up. There are many other makes of conersion kits out there I'm sure. Find out if those ones would work for your year.
I have a small tear in the corner of my front piece so I have a passing interest in these products. Cant think of any way to repair the tear but havent looked into it yet. Painting isnt of interest until spring.
