Has anybody replaced the vanity mirror with lights on the passengers side 1981 Corvette? Ive got a new one and about to replace the broken original one, wanted to know what it requires and how to get the old one off, put the new one on, so I just dont try to jerk it out and damage the visor.

Well it looks like Im the only one to replace the vanity mirror haha. Here are the steps incase anybody needs the tips. The mirror is made in two parts, the mirror itself and the frame with the lid and lights in it. Hold the visor and pull on the frame and the Mirror will pop out. The mirror has two hard rubber nubs on the back that pop in and out of two gromets located in the visor. You willl need to take the screws out of the molding across the top of the windshield and the moulding down the side of the passengers side windshield, and the two screws out of the side of the dash pad cover. Then you will need to take out the glove box cover. inside the glove box hole, right behind the glove box light, you will see the plug for the vanity mirror, unplug it and pull it out. You will have to apply gentle pressure on the dash pad for the plug to clear it.
Install the mirror in the reverse order, push on the mirror and the back of the visor at the same time to get the rubber nubs to pop into place. then reroute the wire back in the same direction, plug it up and make sure its working, then replace all of the moulding and screws.
