I own a '65 w/ a 327/365. The carb is original and was recently rebuilt. Over the weekend I experienced vapor lock on a couple of short runs of less than 15 miles each. The outside temperature was around 89 degrees. The engine temp was in the 185 range. The fuel line from the pump to the filter is rubber. Could this be contributing to the problem? Any suggestions short of parking it until it cools off? It's too early in the summer for this to start happening!

Take a look at the line between the filter & the carb. As I remember, this line gets pretty close to the engine on some of these cars, could be the source of your problems. Needless to say, also look where the rubber line runs between the fuel pump & the filter, keep it well away from the exhaust manifolds. Hope this helps!

The line from the pump to the filter on that engine should be steel, not rubber; the only rubber line is from the filter outlet to the carb inlet. You might try covering the pump-to-filter and filter-to-carb lines with the Thermo-Tec reflective insulating material for fuel lines shown in the Summit and Jeg's catalogs and sold in most speed shops.

Thanks for the suggestion. You're correct. The only original rubber line on this model is from the filter to the carb. I have a repro steel line for the pump to the filter but haven't installed it yet. I will also get the Thermo-Tec insulation for fuel lines as added protection. Thanks again.
