1998 Torch Red Coupe
I came across a product that works very well on my 1998 C5 Coupe. They are called Ventlocks sold by the Leerburg Dog Training | 16,000 pages of dog training information, 300 free dog training streaming videos, free eBooks, podcasts, by Ed Frawley and Michael Ellis company for $17.99 each. These are designed to keep your hatch open and secure allowing the air to flow through the cabin, see that attached pictures.

I purchased two of the yellow 4 inch models (They have longer ones as well), and plan to paint them Torch Red to match my car. They are very well made and lock on to the loop part of the latching mechanism by screwing it down until it's secure. For the money they are a good buy.

When you go to their site type the word "Ventlock" in their search field and that will get you to the proper page for item #1332-4.

PS
I have no connection with this company other than being a satisfied customer.

Years ago I purchased the vent locks for my 2002 coupe from Mid America Motor Works for around $50. They work fine and as yours probably do, prevent the DIC message of "hatch open". I like mine and since they came in black matching my interior, I did not have to paint them.
Thanks for the info.
