I've had my '86 Silver coupe now for 1 year. I got it with 77K miles on it for 8K. Real clean too. After making a few cosmetic improvements (emblems, weatherstripping etc...) I have it to where I want it. The engine/tranny are strong and nothing beyond basic maintenance yet.

I am just surprised that someone would sell me this vehicle in this great condition...even has Borla exhaust and tint glass roof..for only 8k. Didn't he know what he had?? Everyday I get in the car....hear that exhaust roar..and I ask myself that question.
Sometimes I think...well...I'm getting a little tired of the same car...but then I go out and start it...and THAT feeling comes back! You all know the feeling ....the feeling of driving the only TRUE American sports car!
It's my first Vette and I'm bonded to it...it's tough to explain...I guess you all know already. I don't think I can ever drive anything else. This is one of those cars that when something major fails....you fix it!!! Don't even think about buying something else..(unless another Vette)!!
Sorry for the rambling....just wanted to let you know that the wave and everything associated with the Vette tradition is alive and well here in San Diego. The weather is right for Vettes here.
Thanks to all on this board for all the knowledge posted.
Off my soapbox now.

C4s are by far the best buy in Corvettes today. They aren't old enough to command the dollars that the Mid-Years and Sharks are seeing now, but as they get older the cost to buy one will rise again. :v

Well put :beer Mines not in as nice a shape as yours, and it's put me through hell financially, but it's worth it :D LUV my Borla's too! When I was at the Pony last weekend a fellow vette owner came up from SoCal to do course work and check out the event in anticipation of his participation next year. I went by his corner at 140 and he coildn't get to me quick enough afterward to tell me how "AWSOME" my car sounded

Unfortunately, as with most electronic equipment (not directly reponsible for making my car run) operator error robed us both of a video clip of the flyby :cry

I have Borla's too, its nice to hear someone else that likes them, they usually get bashed on these forums.

Also, when you are driving a Vette, you never forget for a minute what type car you are driving. A unique driving experience.

I bought my '86 back in 1992. It had 42K on it, and I paid 11,500. They are just not THAT rare.

Who said they were rare? He just said he got a really nice low mi. one, and that wil get more and more rare.

I got my "95 C4 Manual Yellow Coupe" with 32K miles almost exactly 12 months ago and had to pay US$33K for it (all cars including imports are expensive in Turkey due to taxes). And I had no ambition for cars at all until that moment of insanity when it dawned on me that I should reward myself once in a while in this life. My darling wife also allowed me to go for it to tell you the truth. She now wants an automatic for her to drive - after driving it once on the highway, she is still scared of the manual shift and size & maneouvering of the car.

First I was also somewhat intimidated; was just too big, too complicated, too powerful and kept thinking "what the hell am I supposed to do with this???". No kidding, I was perspiring like hell every time I drove it... Well well well, than I discovered literature, CAC and all sorts of information that helped me to get to know my Vette better and better. And also got used to drive it, like a weekend car. Now I am so much used to it, it is nothing but fun.

Most of the detailing and replacement jobs are done and now it is time for a inside / out polishing, touching up and perfection of the details. I have found a shop here that does detailing by using imported materials. I will get this done in late July - early August time frame.

I am always longing for the weekends to come for me to jump in the car for some cruising in town. And I will keep it as long as I can afford it folks, no matter what the market value is.
