I have kept my vette original except for K&N and air foil. I have said I wouldn't do anything to it that I can't take off in under 10 minutes. I have collected the original window sticker, showroom brochure, video, and I have all the registrations since it was new and the original purchase agreement. Well, the other day I was in the local drug store and an older gent asked me if I was the current owner of his Vette. He described it to me and told me it's history. He then gave me the original plastic key in it's vinyl case that you normally keep in your wallet. It has never been used or carried in a wallet. He found it in his safety deposit box. My collection is complete. Vette owners are a different breed.

Yup, vette owners have a certain brotherhood that I have not seen with any other type of car.

Very cool, hope you stay in touch with him. Yes, Corvette oenwers are definately very classy people.

Hello from Turkey

Folks, as you may have already noticed I am in Turkey and 2 drag races happen in my town every year. Last drag race was this last Sunday and some 20,000 people watched the races. Major excitement is of course the "Americans" (meaning US made cars) owned by people like me and the Class 5 & 6 cars with monster engines, turbos and NOS, and huge horsepowers... So we took our Corvette to the race with my darling wife. You would not believe how many people asked if they could take a picture with the Vette; it is a wonderful feeling. I told all of them "yes, go ahead and shoot as many pictures as you like".

I met several folks who either had American cars in their families in the past or drove an American car while they studied college in USA. And you should all see the admiring looks on their faces while they glanced at the car... I had started taking my Corvette for granted for the past few months but it suddenly dawned on me one more time that it is a charm to own it, to care for it, and to cruise with it as you all know. We exchanged personal information and became friends right there. A gentleman even gave me his business card and said he would buy the car if I sold it; I told him gently "forget it"...

When it is so far from USA it is still possible to find people who have a common interest in Corvettes and would just talk American cars & Corvettes for hours... Next drag racing here is in late September and I will be there again.

I thought I should share this experience with you.
