VIN number and date of MFG

I had seen a chart with the serial number range and month of manufacture. I cant remember where I saw it. Can anyone help? I am looking for 1976 information.

The body build date (which is a day or two ahead of the off-line date) is also coded on the trim tag on the front facing of the driver's door.

Cool. Says my car was built at bowling green Sept 23, 1981. Now I know what day to celebrate.

Their calculator does not cover 1970. Wonder if the strike that year had anything to do with it?
