Knowing that a new model year starts at 100,001 - and the VIN is 100,500 - does that mean it is the 500th of ALL Corvettes produced that year?

....or if the 5th digit is a G/H/J, does it mean that VIN 100,500 is the 500th Z51 produced that year?

Could someone please clarify?.

Nice question. Been wondering about that also.
It would be nice if someone who knows elaborate a bit.

Not getting much of a response.

I tend to believe it's ALL Corvettes. Reasoning: Mine (base) came off the line 8/24/15 with a number in the low 5000. Knowing total production for the year runs about 30-40k, monthly would be 2500-3500.

Considering model year 2016 startup running a bit slow for the first few months would mean 2500/month from initial start which I believe was mid/late June, 2015.

I know if I'm wrong, someone will now jump in to enlighten us!
