I just did my console with vinyl paint (dye). I primed it first with the correct primer. My question is : Do I need to clear coat this also or is the vinyl paint tough enough to take some scuffing? Any and all help on this is appreciated.

I'm suprised nobody replied to your question. The vinyl paint has a gloss level that closely matches the interior finishes. Clear would be too shiney, although you could probably add a flattener to it. I spent several years in GM body shops and we never cleared any painted interior part.

Thanks Tom, I was beginning to think I was the only person who used a vinyl paint. Your info will keep me from messing up a pretty good dye job. By the way. besides the console I didd the seat belts. The trick seems to have been to use a no sand primer.
Thanks again.
