Hey everyone,
Was wondering if any vette people in VA know any place to buy an engine. I'm in the Newport News/ FT. Eustis area. Or where did you get yours from Internet? Local?
Thanks for the help.

are you trying to find a correctly dated and proper casting number engine, or just a good replacement such as a new crate motor?

I'm just trying to find a good motor for a good price. I'm in the military so money is a concern, but not that big of one.

I'm up in DE so don't know what engine shops are in your area but a lot of people are purchasing crate motors from places like JEGS, Summit Racing, GMMP, EngineFactory, etc.
most of these places offer crate motors from mild and relatively inexpensive to wild and pricey.
My first choice would be a ZZ383 stroker motor that will give you a LOT of power and torque but this is also one of the more expensive SB crate motors. You can get a more basic SB 350 with about 250-300hp that will run very well and use regular unleaded for probably around $2k-$2.5k on up for a long block turn key motor. the higher performance the motor the more expensive it will be.
Even a base 350ci/290hp crate motor should give you more power than the stock motor that came in your '77 when it was new.
