I got it out of the box, and like a kid at X-Mas I started right away. However witht the template, you would have to cut the shroud right by the fan in the front. Called breathless, but the guy that answers those questions is at a show until Monday. Anyone else have this problem with an 85???

You do have to cut the shroud. Some people buy another to cut up, saving their original for future possible use again if you want to revert to stock. ;)

I Understand that, however where I have cut according to the template is where my fan mounts in the front

Yeah, I've heard about that. I don't know what to tell you, or how others have worked around that issue. ;shrug

Thanks..Called Breathless and the guy on the phone couldnt help me. I have heard good things about them, so I am not ripping on them. It looks like I may be able to drop my fan below the ram scoop, but I wanted to see if anyone else has done this yet

I installed a system and my brother has installed one. I am not sure about him, but mine has the booster fan in it. I just used the template like they showed in the pictures and didnt have any problems. The filter though is close to the fan, and if you do ever want to revert back to stock the old system covers up that hole you made.

My booster fan on the 85 bolts on 1/2 way down the shroud. If you use the template, you cut the booster fan off. If you go below the booster fan bolts, your way too low for the hood to close. Unless someone else has done this, I may have to move the fan to the side of the shroud more

Ahh, now I remember what you are exactly talking about I think......haha. On the template they gave me it had two notches, the notches being for the radiator booster bolts, is that what you are refering to? When I traced out the template with chalk it just barely missed the radiator booster bolts. What I did was traced it out in chalk first and made the little corrections needed to give me more room around the bolts. Then I took my dremel and followed the line. Hope that helps.

Justin

The template should provide an area to cut out. It also should miss the booster fan bolts, I know mine did. They were very close, so I just didn't cut the whole section out I marked. I used a piece of soapstone. You almost have to mark it out, and get the general dimensions, then make little corrections to it. Nevertheless it can be done.

Did you guys buy the units new? I've been hearing great things about this unit and might have to pick one up. Everyone is saying how there is a noticeable difference in the seat of the pants.

With that being said, I don't know if I can part with $270 for an air intake unit. :L

I might be reading the templete wrong, I will go and look again. Thanks Guys

When it comes time, I'm gonna build my own out of aluminum. ;)

Ken,

We know you're going to post a thread when you do, right? :D

Please tell me that you're starting today. :L

I think it was worth it, above 40ish You can really tell a difference and if you have any exhaust work it just adds upon itself. I bought mine new, it was like 299, it was one of the first mods I did. I think it is serious improvement over the stock sytem. for looks and performance.

Justin

Ken is right, fabricating one would be more cost effective, and probably would be better than the original as far as design. But I am sure there are people like me with not enough time in a day to get everything done they have on the list. Until then I think it is a good mod, it is expensive, but I really think it did help.

Got it in just fine. The instructions were hard to see the picture. I cut inside the template short, and then shaved it. Also I know a lot a people go through several Dremal bits. $14 Diamond dremal wheel at Home Depot...Cut like going through butter

Well what do you think? Have you had it out since? I really like the sound from in front of the car. You can really hear and feel the difference.
