Vortex Rammer Get Rid of It...

I was just at my dealer today, He has the 3rd Vette in the shop with a blown engine due to sucking water. The cost to the owner...$10.300.00. Don't risk it in my opnion.
 
Ouch!
Weren't the Vortex Rammers collapsing (the black plastic part connecting to the throttle body) from underhood temps also? I'm not bashing them, but I thought I heard this was a problem.........
