Not to beat a dead horse but I need to know if the Breathless Vortex Rammer does what it says.I believe 22 HP? Anyone running one that can help me make up my mind about getting one or not?
It's for my 96' LT4.
I dont recommend the Vortex rammer. I bought one and it lasted about 1 month before the plastic warped from engine heat. The unit got so out of shape that it would not even stay on the intake track. The base where it mounts to the radiator shroud warped up also. I will also say that I dont think there is a chance in hell that the unit would add 22hp even if it was high quality. I removed mine and replaced it with the SLP Claw, and the is no comparison in quality.
I dont think on a stock motor you will get any noticeable gains, At least from a seat of the pants feel. I think where any CAI will really come into it's own is when you start to modify the engine, and the stock airbox becomes a point of restriction. I recommend the SLP Claw for even your situation though because it is built BETTER than the factory unit, and it looks really good.
I have had a Vortex Air Rammer for 2 years now. I love it. You can hear the air being sucked in when you start up. I havent had a dyno done, but seat of the pants is awsome. It was an easy install with a Dermel Diamond chip saw. Took about 2-hours. Just make sure you place the template correctly
The best place for that vortech crap is at the curb on tuesday morning.I run the SLP tri claw intake, power coated, heavy construction,K&N's.I jus think its a better unit. When you wanta spice up the motor with matching colors, you can paint it to match.
just like anything else that is produced you will have some that were not produced correctly. i have had one for two years and have no complaints about it. performance? seems like it did something, in theory it should have. i think it looks cool and get lots of compliments on it at the shows.
