I didn't see the pricing either, although I'm afraid to ask.

It looks great. Would love to have one.

The magazine article states that the conversion will start at $40K, and go from there. That's not counting the donor car. Pricey, but it is an awesome looking finished product.

At that price, don't you think you could get a local body shop to cut and graft on some Corvette Image body panels on the front and back, rework the doors, add some bumpers/chrome/trim pieces, and shoot a repaint, for a lot less? Maybe in the 20K range? Personally, I would bet a conversion to a mid-year body style would look even better, because the C5 windshield looks a lot closer to the mid-year windshield than the C1 windshield.

It looks Cool...But...... I kinda like Rich Lagasse Real C-1 Body Z06 running gear car. It might not be as compfy inside as a real C-5... and have all the Interior Goodies..But there's somethimg about the Real C-1 Body that's hard to copy....

Anyone want to venture a guess at what Rich's C1-Z06 would cost, compared to the C5-C1 car?

I'm guessing close to the same price were you to have someone build it for you.

No Comparison

Three years ago with my 62 in the Solid Axle parking area with my digital camera in hand at Carlisle, I walked in one of the buildings and saw for the first time Rich & Barabara's 62. I was then, still am and will always feel THAT is the ultimate most beautifully done 1962 Corvette in the world. I took over 50 pictures in fear I might not ever see it again and during the course of that picture taking, I had the pleasure of meeting Rich for the first time. After he wiped my drool off his shirt and I was able to talk, we had quite a lengthy conversation. He was truely as interested in my 62 as I was and he is one of the nicest people you will EVER meet and so is his vette head lovely wife Barbara.

One of the questions I asked Rich was "How much do you think you have in it?" and his answer was superb, he said and I remember it like it was yesterday, "I have every receipt from day one but I've never added it up, I don't want to know, I did it for the love of the car."

As nice as the C5-C1 is, it's nothing like doing what Rich & Barbara have done, not only with their 62, but their 67 as well and I can't wait to see the 63 they're working on now.
They are both an inspiration to every Corvette owner and I consider it an honor to know them and I look forward to seeing them every year at Carlisle.
