Hey

Im new to the site and just inherited a 1985 Z51 corvette, I am wondering if anyone has been able to fit 18x9.5 or 19x9.5 inch wheels on C4 model vettes.:beer

Welcome to CAC, you will enjoy it here as well as your new ride. I don't know if 18X9.5's and 19X9.5's will fit on a 85. They came with 16" wheels from 84-87?. You can put on later 17" Corvette Wheels 89-96, but they will require adapter plates. Which can be found at any place that sells stuff for Corvettes.

With the Z51 the largest wheel I would go with is 17" x 9.5". You should use the same size on all 4 corners. That became the stock size for Z51 cars I believe in 1988. I have that size on my 1989 Z51 and would not want to go taller.

Hey guys

Thanks alot, Im going to start looking for some 17's and the adapter plates. These forums are really cool to get other ideas and learn for others who have made all the mistakes. Badduck I live in Conway, Ar. are you a member of any local groups there in central arkansas

Check here

Corvette Action Center | Tech Center | Knowledgebase | C4 Corvette Suspension Chart

Hib put this C4 Suspension Chart together a while back and it covers the different wheel and tire sizes that came on the C4. The suspension changes between 87 and 88 and the wheel offsets changed as well as the diameter.

The early C4's 32-38mm offset matches up with the ZR1's 11" wheel offset of 36 mm but the rest of the late C4 wheels were 56 mm or 50 mm for the GS. So, it thinking of using 'standard' late C4 17" wheels, an adapter is a good idea to put the wheels back out where they belong.

If you want to really go big the ZR1 11" wheel will work on early C4's without the adaptor and I have seen a couple with that configuration.

If you decide on after market wheels or look alike wheels other than factory, make sure you get the offset dimension correct.

Not at the present time. Corvettes of central Arkansas is a good group however.

Tire height determines fit not rim size. There are guys out there with 20" on C4 rear but have rubber bands for tires

You can buy direct fit 17 x11" and 9.5" rims with correct offset for early C4's that don't require spacers

17" front / 18" rear is popular
