As you walk in to Corvette city, you will notice how cluttered, unorganized and disshuffled the shop is. There is never a writen contract or any thing letting you know what work is being agreed upon. So once they have your car you will be hit up for a deposit about 3 times before your final bill. A car is typically at corvette city for 6 month to a year....some much longer for simple repairs. Gary will always find other problems during its stay at corvette city and with out authorization they will repair things so he can get the repair bill marked up many thousands of dollars. Gary has taken in a large deposit on numerous larger restoration projects, just to blow thru their money on everything else but what the deposit was for. (Other projects he's behind on and spent their deposits, payroll, rent, dates, lunches, the list goes on ..........) basically everything else but your project. Gary will then hit you up for more money with some bs excuse. But once you pay Gary any money toreds your car it will continue to sit for weeks or months. Once he has your money he will put your car on the back burner and will continues to have issues as to why the work is not being completed. But without a written estimate and everthing agreed upon by mouth, there is little legally that can be done. Anyone that has done business with Gary knows this is how things are done. If you have ever walked in the back of the shop there is not one inch of clean space, the clutter and parts everywhere is not a great work environment to work on these high end cars and many time damage to customers cars occurs. Plus most of the cars in the back have been in there for years and years. Most have put down an extraordinary amount of money to not have their projects finished and are now in limbo and have been for many years.

Regen was a good customer to corvette city. Regan has a 1980 white corvette that had a fresh pait job, new high end stereo installed and new interior. This car is Regens baby. Reagan came into the shop with an idea to build his dream car. He wanted a supercharged built 383 stroker engine and fuel injection. So Gary agreed and told Regen he needed to pay the money up front before he could start the project. Regen agreed and the next day he dropped off his car and 13k cash to Gary. This was in early 2021. After a year Regen start calling Gary about his car. Gary had already spent the deposit and didn't have the money to buy the parts or give Regen his money back. Gary worried he would come get his car, had an employee pull the motor out and then push the car back out side with the hood off. Where it sat for two more years. In July Regen had reached out and told Gary he needed the car back or else. Gary without any money for this project, directed, one off his employees to clean up the motor that was pulled out and spray paint it black because he wanted to throw it back in. Gary installed a new cam shaft because," It will sound different, so Regen won't know it's his old motor". The manifold that was used, came off a car that was in a fire and had bad burn marks all over it. But just bead blasted it clean, so it will look new. Then he just cleaned up the old carb and that's it. NO NEW PARTS BUT A CAM FOR 13K. Regen comes in to see the progression on his car and is in tears. "What happened to my car, OMG". The paint was weathered from sitting outside in the elements for 3 years and was cracked and chipping in areas. Then the engine. He said, "where's the supercharger and fuel injecton, that looks like what I had". This is nothing short of illegal. The car is still at the shop. But Gary has convinced Regen that it's a build engine and he will be happy. Omg.

August 2024 1965 Forest green Corvette.
A 90 year old customer drops off his pristine C2 1965 corvette to have some small things repaired. The car was being pulled out by an employee and scraped the side of the car down the side on a pole in the parking lot. This caused major damage to the body and paint. The car just had a 30k paint job. So instead of telling the customer and being honest, Gary directed the body guy to fix it and keep quiet about the situation. After a month of lies to the owner, the car was fixed but now with extensive body work and the paint had to be blended so there will always be a flaw in the paint. Gary response was, "Well he's 90 and won't know the difference".
There are so many more horror stories to this shop and most people who have done business with Gary knows this is a shady shop. I feel obligated to let others know about Gary and Corvette City, so they don't get burned by this shop.
Gary's in such a bad financial situation it's very risky to have your car there. Gary lives in the shop (can't afford even a small apartment), owes a large amount of tax debt( irs and state), is months behind on rent for the shop, and owes everyone under the sun. This is why he is desperate to collect big deposits and charge such outrageous prices with subpar workmanship.
