Does anyone know how to turn off the warning buzzer on a 1979? It stays on for 15-20 seconds after it should go off. For example, even after you pull the key out and close the door, the buzzer stays on. It eventually goes off but I thought disconnecting might be the best bet.
Thanks.

Buzzer location?

Does anyone know where the buzzer is, so that I could disconnect it?

I don't have a 79 Shop Manual,
only a Haynes Manual which doesn't get specific.

Thanks.

If it's anything like my 75 it's up under the dash in the center to the passanger side. I was able to get to mine by looking under the passanger side dash (without taking it appart).

You can also remove the buzzer power from the steering column but it's a P.I.T.A. It's behind the turn signal near the key. After you remove the turn signal you take some needle nose pliers and pull out the two copper connectors in a plastic housing. That will stop the connection from being made when the key is turned off.

Mine is a square box about the size of a pack of cigarettes plugged into the fuse panel. I have mine pulled out and hanging. Maybe yours is the same.

Yep, 79s the same.

I think you're right...

I did a quick check, more thorough tomorrow, and pulled out the little black box. No buzzer sound with the key in and the door open!!!
Many thanks!!!

Do you know what the wire plugged into the side of the box was for?

Just unplug the box. Don't remove it. I think the wires that go into it maybe for either your delay dimmer or seatbelt buzzer. I'm not sure. all I know is the buzzer stops when the box is unplugged.

Thanks...

Thanks, Jim. That was a big help!!!
