Thanks for this forum. I have an 88 C4 coupe. It's a great car except for a few quirks. I bought the car several months ago -- it drives and rides well. However, two warning lights come on -- usually during the first 30 mins or so of driving. They then usually go off for no apparent reason. One is the door ajar light. If I open my door while driving, it goes off. Shut the door-- light back on. After awhile (maybe 30 mins)--- off again. The same is true for the low coolant light. Car does not run hot- had it checked last week, and mechanic said no cooling issues. Radiator is full when cold. Low coolant light comes on and off for first 30-45 mins of driving- then off. Finally, heater is hot. If I adjust it by lowering temp setting, heater overadjusts to cold. I can turn system off, wait a minute and hear a clicking sound under the glovebox- turn system back on-- heat again. Heat flows only on bilevel setting. If I select heater, I don't get much heat. I like the car and would like to correct these issues. I appreciate your knowledge, experience, advice, and time. Happy Holidays!

Quirks

You may use the 'search' tab to look for solutions to the three quirks listed, and lots of other stuff. All three quirks are discussed at length.
The door ajar light going on/off usually results from worn out or miss-adjusted door switches. They're on the back of the door (not the jamb) down low. You may be able to pull the plunger out then reset by closing the door. They're not bad to replace and some threads in search give great detailed instructions how to replace them without taking the door apart.
The low coolant light may be low coolant or if the coolant level is OK, the sensor may be flaky as they are known to be.
The description of heat (or lack) sounds like you have the C68 electronic A/C control. Search for how to clean the contacts of the control head and checking the heater door (peek in the blower housing).
Good luck

Thank You!

I appreciate this forum so much. I have never had a Vette before, and having the car has been a great experience thus far. Part of that experience is being able to share my enthusiasm for the car and to learn from others who share the same passion. I want to thank you -- and all posters -- for taking the time to respond to my posts and share your thoughts/knowledge. You are appreciated. Happy Holidays!
