In my search for a 1963 Corvette (the year I was born) I came across one today with a vin ending in 118211. I was born on 4/17/63. The engine stamp in front is F04II. Is there a way to know the exact day each car was made from the Vin seq.#? I think the car is "born" about a week or so after the engine is assembled. Anyone??

OOps! I meant that the vin was 15211, not 18211. But do you mean to tell me Jack, that my typo coincidently is YOUR vin number??

15211 comes out to be "born" on May, 15, according to that calculator. How accurate is that? Is it normal to have the car finished 4-5 weeks after the engine date?

Sorry for the confusion, in this case:
MY = Model Year

No clue on the accuracy of the birthday calculator ... The dates seem fine to me (but I'm no expert).

Ciao,
Jack

Duh!! Of course...I should have known. Thanks for the clarification. That's funny though. I thought that you capitolized "MY" to emphasize the fact that it was "YOURS". :)
Again, thanks for the help.

Well, I can't believe it's very accurate. I put in my vin...last 5 is in the 18000 range and it came back and told me my car was built in Sept '66. They sure musta been building fast in Sept '66.

I thought the birthdate was on the Trim Plate

I always thought the birthdate was on the Trim plate. Mine has C6 which crosses to November 6th. Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, I'd like to know too...
The Judging Manual says for 64 Models, Sept=A, Oct=B, Nov=C...etc Thru Jul=K for the St Louis... And Jan=A, Feb=B, Mar=C...etc thru Jul=G for the A.O. Smith bodies...
I was going to attach my trim plate data for reference, but the file was too large... So... the number is on the top Left hand corner (next to the word Detroit)...

The body build date code format on the trim tag is different for 63's - just a letter and one number digit - "A" is September '62, and the number is the week of that month. You have the '64 format correct.

Having an engine that was assembled a month before the car's final assembly date isn't that unusual - inventory control was pretty primitive in those days at St. Louis.
