After driving, I can smell antifreeze, With my prevouis Vett this was the water pump failing and easy to check by drops of water on the floor under the pump and the rad fan had some back and forth play.
On this one no water drips from the pump, no fan on the block to tug on and water level doesn't seem to be low.
So, how do I know the water pump is failing? or is it the heater core? :confused

thanks

If it's the waterpump you should see or be able to feel coolant dripping from the weep hole at the bottom of the housing. If it's the heater core (and good luck if it is) the leak will be inside. Check the carpet in the passenger's foot well. Another check is to turn on the defroster; if the windshield fogs up or there is a stronger smell of coolant you've found the problem. You can also bring the car to a service station and have the coolong system pressure tested. This will show if there is a leak in any of the hoses.
