Water Pump going ????

Help, I think my water pump is going out. There is anitfreeze leaking. I don't have a floor jack to raise her up and take a look. I can move the fan blades abount 1/2 back side-to-side.

Not too bad of a job. Just take your time. You should not need a jack at all as all will come out from the top. A jack might help to raise the car to set a pan under it for draining the fluid.

Should take you the better part of an afternoon, then you can go cruising that night!

I notice that the lower rad. hoses has been cut into by the fan, with the engine off there is about 1/2 clearance is more needed? does the fan blade expand or straight out at higher RPM's. the fan is from a 71.

Sounds like the water pump is GONE not going. With that much movement in the fan it has probility caught the hose a few times. Replace the water pump and hoses before you drive it anywhere because if the fan comes loose and gets the rad you will be looking at some $$$. Good luck, it not to bad a job to do.
