Weatherstrip drip question.

I have a problem with my top dripping water in the car on both the driver and passenger sides after a rain when there is still water on the top. It drips down from the joint between the top and a-pillar joint. It isn't a torrent by any means, just an annoyance. No water comes in at all when the window is up in the same conditions. The water drips down the outside of the window.

Can anyone post a picture of what a correct joint between those two weatherstrip pieces is supposed to look like? I have no other C5's here at Aviano to compare it too to see what a correct joint looks like.

I'm confused. Does it drip when the windows are up or down?
I can post a pic, but I'm not quite sure where you're talking about. Exterior?

Once, while driving in a heavy rain, mine began to drip steadily on the drivers side in the same area. I think the window must have not made a good seal against the weatherstrip or something, because it never happened again. Sounds different from your problem though.

Show me on this pic where you're talking about... what angle you need. I'll post a closer one.

My drip is after it rains and the drops are running off of the roof and out of the rain moulding and the windows are down. The joint I am wanting to know about is where the top weather strip meets the a-pillar (windshield) weatherstrip. I appreciate your help, but our cars are different. I wish mine was a Z-06!

HI there,
The joint should match, with no gaps at either location, to the top or to the window.
Make sure to check for tears, because if there is a tear, it will not seal.

I have a problem also when it Rains steady for a day or so , I get a drip from the driver side front corner, the dealer said this is common when it rains steady for more than a day, and the gaskets are all fine and the car passes there water test, which I can agree when I wash the car or if it just showers it is fine, does anyone else have this problem?

Well at least I know I didnt tell you that.
If you only get one or 2 drops, then you most likely only need the top adjusted a little bit.
I would point to your leak locations with your technician there, so he can see what you have.

yes, they are going to look at it next week, hopfully that is all it is, I think where the water drains down the sill might even be cloged, just hope this is the last time I have a problem.

I don't know about the repair but I would imagine some type of waterproof glue might work. As far as preserving them, GM sells weatherstrip lubricant. Be prepared for sticker shock, it is $52 a tube. However, it should last enough to lubricate your weather strips 4 or 5 times. You can also use silicone dielectric grease. According to the owner's manual it is an acceptable substitute for the lubricant.

Mid America Motorworks, www.mamotorworks.com, has GM approved silicone grease for preserving weatherstrips that works well. You get (3) 1oz. tubes for $9.99. P/N 100-554.

After reading about GM lub and etc. for weather striping am I to assume that Armor-All would not protect this weather striping. That is all I use; if there is a problem with this I would like to hear from you all.

yes, do not use armor-all it will eventually dry them out, I use a silicone based spray that I have at work used to lubricate 3m adhesives, I used it back on my 99 and the gaskets were like new when I traded it in 5 years later.
