I wanted to see if any people more in the know have ever heard of this,
Keep in mind I am second party,

On an early c3 corvette the pillar VIN tag which IS original is missing one number the 6th number in this case,
However , the frame numbers and the paper title numbers all match besides the VIN tag missing one number,

Anyone heard of this?

There has been a lot of cases of factory errors on VIN plates and stampings.

Vin numbers

Judged a 5k mile 73 at Bloomington Gold that was missing more than one number. Don't lose any sleep over it.

I once judged a 1973 convertible with a VIN tag that said it was a coupe. The windshield had never been out and the VIN tag looked original. More interesting was that the owner pulled out a title that said it was a convertible. I just shook my head and expressed my hope he never got stopped by an observant police officer.

My old '78 had a trim tag that called for a red interior. The broadcast sheet said brown. :W

Yeah, it never had a red interior.:chuckle

Back in the day, I actually had to replace incorrect VIN plates with correct ones shipped to the local P.D. who brought them to me and then watched as I replaced them.
