What the benefits of each for the mufflers?

I installed Flowmasters with clamps last summer and I can hear some leaking where the mufflers go into the y-pipe.

Is welding almost irreversible?

I prefer the clamp.Clamping can be irreversible also because it crimps the pipe and wont release it.I just prefer it because it looks cleaner and welds always seem to cause rust.

hey Edmond,
i like the clamps also.when i install,i use a smear of permatex copper gasket sealer around the male fitting, insert into female,he,he,if you put it on the female fitting it will 'roll' into a bead as you insert the male fitting and the seal is not as good.later,Todd.

What happens if you had to pull the transmission let's say, and here you are, hacksawing a perfectly good, reuseable exhaust system, because you decided to weld up a leak. Find some kind of exhaust leak wrap in Autozone or similar store and..... Clamp it!
