Were Brembo brakes standard?

I have Brembo brakes on my 89 TT. I am getting no joy trying to get info from Ted Rice at Callaway (again!!!). Brembo themselves are busy trying to figure out what I have on my car.

Were Brembos standard on B2Ks? Does anyone know what part numbers the disks and pads are? And where to get the best deal?

No Im pretty sure those are aftermarket brakes. The B2k option triggered special build code z5g(i think) which included, the big brakes-also called ZR1 brakes, long air dam, and a few others I cant' recall off the top of my head.

Do they look like these

As Josh pointed out the Callaway should have come with the factory "big brakes" which were 13" rotors. There should be an option code (RPO code) J55 listed on the sticker on the underside of your center console lid. That would confirm that your car came with those brakes. If it was a factory ordered Twin Turbo it should also have B2K in the list. The codes are alphabetical. (I think the RPO code list is on the console lid for '89... I know it is for '90. If not, it's probably in the glove box? I'll defer to an '89 expert if I'm wrong.)

You should be talking to Joanne about what's on your car, not Ted. He orders the stuf for you, but with your VIN Joanne can tell you everything about your car, dates it was there etc.

Firstly, I must apologise to Ted Rice. Just after I posted this message he got back to me with prices. However, I am pretty shocked, not so much by the brake prices, but by the prices of the lenses and wastegate diaphrams:

Front Rotors: $325.62 each
Front Brake Pads: $262.35 set
Driver's Lens: $295.00 each
Turn Signal Lens: $330.00 each
Diaphram: $85.05 each

Anyway, the discs on my 89 TT #40 are 13" diameter so they are probably as described previously. I will confirm with Ted as to whether these are Brembos or not.

Another interesting note for those who have asked in the past, we do have a Corvette Club here in South Africa www.corvette.co.za (website is slightly out of date). We have about 100 members and many events throughout the year.

Additionally, South Africa has some pretty nice highways and our cops only have radar guns that they have to use from the side of the road, so a quick scout down one side of the highway for a few miles and then one has a straight run at whatever speed is reachable in the opposite direction.

Ron, mine is the same as the one in your photo. Any idea where I can get them from besides Callaway or Brembo and at a good price but with the same quality?

Did Ted also mention that the turn signal lenses would be clear and not amber like the originals?

what parts are you looking for ?
the calipers themselves you can't get from anyone but Brembo
the rotors, hats and fasteners I orderd thru Ted, the rotors you could probably pick up anywhere, but the hats and fasteners are custom machined by Callaway, Brembo no longer makes pads, but I did manage to get them from one of the big brake manufactures, the name escapes me at the moment but I'll look for their catalog and get you a part number I just replaced everything but the Calipers this past summer and it came to a little over $1400.00

Yup, that who has them :D

in fact when I ordered mine from Callaway the same Hawk part number that sin their catalog was stamped on the back. They are not exactly the same size, as after I installed them and ran them awhile, there was about 1/8-1/4 inch ring close to the hat that the pads do not cover, so now I have a small ring of rust there
