I want to get 17in wheels but I still want the stock look...What do you guys think of the regular rallez?
I still want meat on them. NO LOW PRO. I guess 245 55 17 or 60 series...
What do you guys think...?Just stay with the 15 in or go with the 17in..?
I figure the 17 will be alittle heavier? I know that they will handle the curves better....What else should I be looking at?

Any help is appreciated...

Here is a pic of the wheels...Hope the guy doesn't mind me using his car

I used to have the 17" steel ralleys. I liked the looks but they are heavy. The rim alone is 35 lbs. Billet ralleys are lighter but quite a bit more money.

As for tires I'd recommend 255/50-17. You have a fair selection in this size including kumho, nitto and bridgestone. The overall diameter of the 255/50-17 is the same as the stock 225/70-15 and the 255/60-15.

I switched to some american racing rims due to the wieght issue. The AR's are 20 lbs each. That's a 60 lbs difference for 4!

I think they look good! But man, that would be too heavy for my taste. Then again, if you auto crossing or drag racing then weight is not an issue. :t

Its a very nice look, but to much weight my Americam racing tt2s were only about 10lbs each ,I don,t race but it allows my shocks & springs to react to the road not the tire.

I had new 15+8 rallys sold them to my friend

I agree when I bought my 75 a year ago I scrapped the after market and did the Rally's But opted for less weight and a differen't look

Man I just love the look. Do any of you guys have pic's to post. Call me crazy but the only other rim I think I'd go with would be spokes...Not anything crazy...Let me see like in the vett in Rush Hour.
What is the weight of the stock wells?

zwede Which rims did you switch too?

Again if anyone has pic's it would help me out alot. I just don't want it (my car) to creep out of the C-3 era.

Thanks guys for the help......

I guess I know what movie I'll be watching tonight. I remember the car, but can't picture the wheels.

Culprit,

What part of South Carolina do you live? I have a buddy on his way out...Not a Vett guy. Do you play golf?

i got a catalog form a company - wheel vintique, they also make rally wheels in different sizes. i dont know the weight/ price , ill have to search for the catalog. i believe they are in california. i like the idea of going with at least 17" ,that way you can use run flat tires (no more spare to worry about, changing tires on the side of the road...ect)

Howdy Crebo,

I'm here at the MCAS in Beaufort. Golf. Hmmm, well. The last time I had went golfing was in high school and I got kicked off the course - never went back until this 4th of July weekend a month ago. Crazy thing is I kinda liked it - and I was hitting everything straight even (just not very far and I can't put any better than Happy Gilmore).

Did you get a chance to see the car in Rush Hour? I don't want fellow vett owners to look at me crazy.

I just talked to my mech yesterday. Looks like another month or so. Going to the 454...eldbrock heads...which are worked. about 10.25-1 compression and a mild cam. 232 in 238 ex..... 550 on lift both sides.
Wanted a 496...But overheating would be a concern. I will be PCS'ing to Camp Shelbly soon.

No, I haven't put the movie in yet. My parts showed up in the mail so I've spent the week putting it back together (and shrimping). I'll let you know what I think. Have fun moving!

Crebo,

I like the wheels on the black Vette in Rush Hour - and the movie isn't bad either. :) What color is your car? I don't think those spokes would look as good on a lighter color - I think the contrast really helps them look as sharp as they do.

I like the wheels alot...My car is white.. I've looked at it on one of those computer rim simulators. I like it just wondering what the other vett owners think..I know that it's my car but you know...
