After doing some extensive research along with some important coin flipping, I have decided to replace the battery in my '97 with an Optima Redtop or a glass mat AC-delco. Not sure which one yet. But I like the look of the Red top.

After I disconnect the battery I know I will have to reprogram the FOB, but I read about having to do an Idle re-learn. Can someone explain how this is done?

Are there other electrical/computer functions that will need to be reset?

Quoting Corvette Fuel Injection & Electronic Engine Management

Automatic Transmission LS1

1. Turn the key off, reconnect the battery, turn the A/C control off, set the parking brake, and block the drive wheels.

2. Start the engine, shift to drive, let the engine idle for five minutes.

3. Turn the A/C control on (make sure the A/C button light is on). Idle for another five minutes.

4. Leave the A/C on, shift into park, and idle for yet another five minutes.

5. Turn the A/C off, and idle for a final five minutes.

6. Finally, turn the engine off for at least 30 seconds.

Manual Transmssion LS1

1. Same as above.

2. With the transmission in neutral, start the engine.

3. Turn on the A/C and idle for five minutes.

4. Turn off the A/C and idle another five minutes.

5. Turn the engine off for at least 30 seconds.

I am interested in the thread as well...

since my car will be undriven (battery unhooked) for six months or so while I am here waiting to spank Saddam.

I assume the tire pressure sensors will have to relearn their job too as well as what has already been mentioned.

I don't have the LWTPS so I can't say for sure, sorry. But do spank Saddam with the pointy end of a .223, OK?
