I was told that the sun shell on my auto trans was broken. What does the sun shell do and what kind of money are we talking to fix?

Hi there,
If you look at your other post, I had given you a diagram of this, and the location of the unit that has snapped, or stripped out.
Honestly, make sure that they use the revised unit, so you have a more durable transmission.
24221190 is the revised kit. $224.07 is list for the shell kit, revision, with both bearings and the shaft.
I would also suggest replacing the 2/4 band, and the clutches while they are in there. The clutches are about $400 and the band is about $70. The overhaul kit, which includes the bolts for the front pump, and all seals, is about $175.
Cost is really per whatever labor time guide they use.
