it looks like a junction or something for all the wires that run behind the battery. there are 2 on the driver's side firewall. the outside one {closest to the door} is the main one i am interested in as the wires are in bad shape.thanks in advance.

Behind the battery, on the driver side, is a junction box, although it's referred to as a "jumper block." The two blocks on the passenger side to which you refer, I have no idea of what they are, although you do have your ECU (Engine Control Unit) located on that side, near the windshield washer reservoir. ;shrug

His ECU should be under the dash behind the breadloaf, and the washer reservoir is up by the headlights...

I too can't find something on the passenger side under the hood, just on the driver's side, which is what Ken mentioned.

Rich, the ECU is mounted to the heater blower motor; ECM (Electronic Control Module - with the CalPak) is located under the passenger side hush panel on the early C4 Corvettes, with it mounted in the engine compartment in successive years. The ECU monitors knock, while the ECM monitors everything. ;)

i meant the driver's side. sorry about that. i have discovered that the junction box will sometimes make a clicking sound. along with that, one of the wires going into it is just hanging and not secured in the harness. i'm sure that might be causing some of my problems.

:o (that's an "embarrased" smiley, I hope).

ECU, ECM, what's one letter between friends? :) I thought the ECM contained the ECU, and only the ESC was by the firewall. So much for that...

Sorry, but I guess I did add to the confusion here, Rich. :o

The correct acronym for the unit that is located at the heater blower motor is the Electronic Spark Control (ESC), not ECU as I stated. I'm not sure now if they didn't change the nomenclature later to Electronic Control Unit (ECU) instead of Module (ECM) because you're not the first to call the item under the dash the ECU. ;)

one question......who's on first? ;LOL

I dunno, but I can see who's on 2nd... is this Len, the Sequel?

Ken, I believe the LT1 has the ECU comprising the ECM and the ESC and probably an alphabet soup of other E's under the hood above the battery. Any L98's do that, too?
