Question: What is the correct finish for a 1970 frame?

I'm in the process of doing a frame-on chassis restoration of my 1970.

I've used a die grinder to strip down most of the rust. . .while not completely going down to bare metal. I'm using POR-15 on top of the surface rust.

I need to top coat the POR-15. . .and was wondering what the correct black finish was. Gloss? Satin? Flat?

I currently have POR's Blackcoat. . .with is a gloss black. Is that correct?

NCRS 70-72 Tech manual says:" The Original frame color was semi-flat to semi-gloss black with an enamel base."

You can use Eastwood extreme chassis black satin. I ended up using the regular gloss black. I love that paint, easy to apply and tough as nails. Same thing for rust encapsulator, I used this as a primer, great stuff.

If you can find it GM reconditioning paint. It is Matte black. A GM dealer maybe able to get a gallon for you, it's not cheap about $100.00. but well worth it. And it is the correct finish .
