what is the correct size allen key?

hey, i'm trying to put on a new shifter plate and have to take off the air vent knobs , does any one know what size allen key i've tryed all i have, seems if it's not to big it's to small.

Just took mine off a 71 and it was 1/16" size allen wrench if I am reading it correctly.
