All I know is what I read in the papers. Halverson and K&N support what I said and that is good enough for me no matter how funny you think it is.
.

I don't think it's funny, I was reffering to vettefans other trouble with his engine, and fuel of any type will not help there.

I was not aware that there was that much of a change in fuel reqiurements between 86 and 87 though as he pointed out. I thought that didn't start before the LT1's.

Section 2-2 in my owners manual states, " should use unleaded fuel with an octane rating of at least 87. However you may use unleaded fuel with an octane rating as low as 85 in those high altitude areas: (list). Using fuel with a higher octane rating than that which allows occasional knock is an unnecesary expense."

No knock problem here, and saving money when appropriate is the only way I can come close to the expense of owning, operating, and maintaining my baby :L

I guess if I thought that was funny I wouldn't keep responding to your other posts, trying to answer your questions and help where possible ;)

No harm done, we are all friends here right? I have just not been a happy camper with this place trying to bend me over if you know what I mean.

I definately feel for ya! And I hope you are able to come out whole. You're gonna have to fight for it.

I'm sorry if you feel that way but you can rest assured that no one here is trying to bend you over. Stuff like that isn't tolerated here on this forum. We're the nicest folks you'll ever see on the Net'. :beer

But what you're not considering is that the vehicle has a knock sensor, and will retard the timing to compensating for any knocks. So while technically, you're not knocking, you might also not be getting as far advanced as you could have with a higher octane gas.

You'd have to hook up some diagnostic software to the ECM to see if the timing is being retarded or the knock sensor is sensing any knocks.
