What is this hose?

So, I was do some spring tuning on the car Sunday: changed fuel filter, put some lube on the weatherstrip and repaired it alittle, cleaned up the inside, changed the coolant, and descreened the MAF. It was during the MAF changing, that I found a hole in this hose. Sometime during operation, it had moved over and rubbed againt one of the pulleys, burning about half of the hose away about 8-10 inches down from the top.
What does this hose do? I managed to wrap it up alittle in some electric tape, but it is definately not completed sealed. Where does it go to, and how important is it, for it not to have a leak? It was at the end of the day, and I didn't have time to explore.
Thanks a lot,
Oliver

I believe that is the vent hose for the Optispark. Being mounted in the intake like that, I believe there is a small vacuum on it, which vents moisture from the Opti.

It may be the wires running to the MAF Sensor. As you may already know MAF runs with a constant voltage, which means electric current, which means wires... It may not be a hose after all.

:_rock ;LOL :eyerole :upthumbs :r

yep, 1 side of the optispark vacuum harness...just replaced mine this year.

Mine did the same. It's supposed to be held by a metal "s" shaped clip to the alt. bracket. The clip works off & the vac hose get's shredded. Goes to the bottom of the opti.

I got some vac hose & a vac splice plastic connector & trimmed it down below the shredded section, spliced in the new hose & reconnected. Take a couple of tie wraps & secure it away from the pully. 5 min fix.
;)

Any time!:)
