Well as luck would have it........... This connector broke (the plastic gets extremely brittle after 20 years), and I need to know what the part is. I can not find it in my Haynes manual.

Thanks in advance.

I had an 84, and still have the parts and illustration catalog. It shows that connector as the Hi Press cutoff switch. Is the connector itself cracked, or is it the switch in the A/C line itself

It is the connector that attaches to the compressor - it broke off. I hope it can be easily changed.

I am not possitive if this is the pigtail you need...but here it is anyway...Its hard to see the pic...bring the AC part number to your local AC DELCO DEALER and see if it matches up...Then you only need to splice the wires in.

JonM - Thanks. I think I need the actual switch and not the connector - but it is good to know there is a source for the connector. Like everything else plastic on this 20 year old car - you look at it wrong and it breaks.

Can you find the part you need in this pic? None of the parts listed are discontinued so let me know if ya see something familiar....:w

I think that you'll have to break into the system to replace the switch (#14) The O-ring(#23) seals the switch. In later models, some of these pressure switches use a schrader valve so you can replace it without a drain, but I think you're headed for a freon R&R. Might consider changing to R134 while you're at it! I have used the cheapie kits that has a compatable oil already in the freon, and comes with the new style QD adapters. Probably not the best way, but I've used these kits with great success, and they cost about $30. Consider it for a quick, cheap fix until the system can be converted the right way! Jusy my 2cents.

It is #14 as J37 stated. I went to autozone up the street but they sold me the wrong one. The collar was bigger than what is on the compressor. There is a Shrader valve - no leak. I will try napa or checker to see what they have.

Thanks

According to my local Chevy Parts Dept. this is the AC Cycling Switch. I checked GMPartsDirect and while the cost is low the shipping and handling charges pumped the price up to $38. The dealer has one for $36. The other thing is gmpartsdirect wants $5.25 shipping and handling for a 57 cent part. I have a problem with that.

Thanks for the info, it was instrumental in me calling around to determine what was needed.

Glad to learn about the Schrader valve! Sorry to throw you a curve on that one. Every day's school!

You are correct - everyday is a learning day. No issues with the curve - it's not the path, it's the ride that counts. :)

Anyway the part is the AC Cycling Switch and I was able to find one at the Chevy dealer for $36. It is installed, cold air flows and we are once again at peace with all things Corvette. Until I decide to change something anyway. :cool
