Hey guys, one of the colateral damages from my catastrophic engine failure is the shaft in the bellhousing that the throwout bearing rides on. It is part of the bellhousings face plate that bolts to the front of the transmission. What is this called? Where can a replacement be purchased? Thanks for any help.

If you are talking about a C3--and you wouldn't have posted here if you weren't--if we are talking about a stock parts, there is no "shaft" inside the bellhousing that the TO bearing rides on.

The bearing fits into a "clutch fork" which rides on a "clutch pivot ball" screwed into the bellhousing.

The throwout bearing rides on the tubular portion of the transmisson's front bearing retainer; see left side of the photo. :)

Hey John Z, that's it. I probably confused you guys by indicating it was part of the bellhousing. It is part of the transmission in the bellhousing. Any idea on where I can purchase a front bearing retainer?
You guys are the best! Thanks for being here for guys like me.

peace Bud

Hey guys, found it. D & L Transmissions. Lots of Muncie parts. Many different years. Thanks again.

Bud
