My '98 is totally stock...what is the first thing I should do as far as an appearance upgrade? I am not ready to tackle the performance upgrade yet, if at all.

It is Sebring Silver
Light Gray and Black interior
Glass top

rims 19s all around with some nice low-profile tires and lower it.mine is slammed:) the rims will come later,im painting and polishing everything under the hood, and modding at the same time.please try to consider anything but z06 rims, there everywere, even tons of cameros have them.good luck with whatever you decide.post pictures when your done.:)
later,Todd.

Thanks Todd!
Unfortunately I was rear ended today by a Toyota 4-Runner. Ended up in the emergency room, so it will be a minute b4 I can do anything.

This is the second accident I have had in my vette since I bought it March 25, 2003. Both times the other drivers were at fault.

I can't figure out what it is about my car that makes people want to hit it!

Crazy VA drivers!

Sorry to read about accident number 2!! I hope your injuries are not to severe. The Vette has a tendency to attract tailgaters and people that feel compelled to constantly challenge you. A cruise in my Vette never goes by without some jerk riding my butt or cutting in front of me. I have become a different type of driver when I am in my Vette; you have to constantly worry about the other person. I am convinced it comes with the keys...

Good luck with the repair and I hope you heal quickly!

Sorry to hear aobut any of the accidents. I have almost been hit in my 95 more in the last year since I bought than I have in any car in the last 10+ years of driving. This isn't from tailgaters. This is from people pulling straight into traffic and almost plowing into the side of the car. How can you not see a super shiny, very RED car? Are you freakin' blind?

Hope you're alright and not seriously injured. There are so many out there that shouldn't even be driving.

Leon

i'm sorry to hear about your accident, hope you feel better.

maybe the beauty of the vette hymotized the other drived enough for them to go blind and hit you.

I have to chuckle (only for a minute until I am slapped back to reality) because my plates read CU LUKN...

Apparently the other drivers were:
1. Looking to hard, trying to figure out what the plate said or
2. Not looking which is why I was rear-ended

I agree: How can you NOT see a shiny beautiful silver car right in front of you?

Today's accident was surely from tailgating. Now I gotta find a lawyer, my back hurts, no horizontal limbo for me for weeks, and worst of all no 'vette.

Someone rescue me!

hello again,
thats terrible, are you ok,?i was rear-ended about 3 months ago,i was not hurt,i was watch the guy in my mirror,i rolled up and ran out of room,i was saying"no,no,no,".....bang.f%$#%#%$##idiot!!!then my friend was hit twice in the same month.the guy at the body shop(my friend)said theres not to many vettes on the road, but they get almost as many in there as other cars.most are hit in the rear.i think people are staring and forget there driving;shrug get well soon,oh,i meet the a nice lady out of all that, shes the one who hit me,but it didnt work out,im single again, anyway, take care,
later,Todd.

paint it black

Paint it black and get some limo black window tint. Maybe get a rear wing spoiler. As far as other drivers, yeah they do tend to act funny around a corvette. I have not had too much problems with tail gaters, but I do notice a lot of other drivers like to put the head lights on when they see me. Not sure why, when usualy it is a bright sunny day out. There is the occasional idiot who drives by as fast as he can to prove how fast he is. A lot of times other drivers act real friendly for no reason, and get out of my way or give me the right of way when turning into a busy street. That happens a lot when in my vette, but not much when in my firebird.

I hope you didn't suffer any permanent damage to your back. Back problems stay with you forever and it really limits what you can do! I hope the Vette' gets repaired quickly.

As for the mods... How about the exhaust tips? Do you have the chrome tips on? I've seen the exhaust without tips and it really looked cheap. You could just get the tips and put em' on yourself.

I agree about the exhaust tips...

they make a world of difference. Also, the chrome plate that goes between the tips - you can get a $ 50.00 adhesive backed one (I did), or a $ 200.00 that attaches to your exhaust.

The first thing I always get for my car is the Lloyd embroidered mats - they are larger than the factory mats, and the color-coordinated logo wakes up the interior. I am also ordering the metal pedal kit, and a billet shift knob. Tinted windows are a must if you haven't done that yet. Little things really make a difference!

Hope you're feeling better...

I agree, the exhaust plate really "shines" the car up.

What kind of mats do they include with the C5's?

They are just plain black...

really blah, no logo or anything. I got the Lloyd mats with pewter & black logo - they look really nice. In my red '96 I had black mats with red logo, really liked them too.

Yes,
The mats that came with the car suck.
Same here vettegirl...I have ordered the LLoyd mats (double logo), have an appointment for the tint, and I am holding off on the tips, and the exhaust plate until I get the chrome wheels. Didn't want to have chrome everywhere BUT on my baby's feet...

I got my mid america catalog and I have been going nuts! So much stuff...I am going to be so broke, but styling like a MF!

:cool

So how is recovery on your back coming?

If you Vette doesn't have the bodyside moulding, it is an easy modication that gives your car more of a 3-D look. Maybe those fools can see it better.

My 98 was Pewter, the three times that idiots hit me claimed they never saw me. Wonder if the light Silver colors tend to stealth the car?

I get cut off constantly in traffic too. Either:

1) Milennium yellow is hard to see

-- OR --

2) Everyone in the Phoenix area drives like a total idiot

I'm thinking it's option number 2. Luckily, you can outmenouver just about anything in a vette.

Take the DUCE!!! But the problem is nationwide.

Recovery is going well...thanks for asking

My boss told me that he read somewhere that silver cars are the hardest to see....hmmmm

I still don't buy it.

That Sucks

I dont know what i would do if someone slammed my rearend! That really sucks about your vette and the fact that you were hurt. SUV's suck too i bet his car was fine and that the only damage was a couple of scratches under the car. Hope you feel better soon!
BY the way i havent been close to getting hist and my cars black. I guess black is just lucky. Just a pain to keep clean!
