Michelin tried to use its pull to make a last minute (and untested) configuration change to the track at the (Indy) US Grand Prix Race. FIA said NO! (Good for them.) After the Parade lap all the Michelin tems pulled into their garages and didn't race. Teams using the Bridgstone tires still ran the race. Fans were very PO'd because that left only 6 cars racing. Michelin tried to be a bully but it backfire on them. Now they just look like wu$$ys. What a disappointment and insult to the USA fans.
Michelin advised the teams not to race saying it couldn't vouch for the safety of its tires...
INDINAPOLIS, United States (AFP) - Any chance Formula One had of capturing the American audience was crippled by Sunday's US Grand Prix farce, according to the US media.
INDIANAPOLIS, United States (AFP) - The seven teams whose last-minute withdrawal turned the US Grand Prix into a farcical Ferrari victory procession defended their decision on grounds of safety, apologized to fans, and blamed motor racing officials for not solving their problem.
