Hello,

I purchased a damaged bright blue 89 Callaway convertible about three years ago. I had the frame straitened, put new cross member in. Replaced driver’s door and body panels from an 85 donor car and transferred under hood ducting from old hood. Bought 4 ZR1 replica wheels because only one Dymag survived. The car has been painted but not assembled. It needs most of the under hood plastic fender wells and bumper fillers, weather-stripping and body moldings. I have kind of lost interest.

I prefer the 91 and up body style and dash to the 89, and I really don’t care for the blue leather interior or 6 speed in my car.

So here’s the question:

Is there any value to a salvage titled Callaway with 11000 miles to make it worth finishing?

Should I try to sell it as a project car to someone else?

Or should I find a 91 that I like and transfer the engine to it and part out the rest?

Thanks for any insight or advice.

I say project car... it's worth something to someone. Ebay it. Get it out of your hair and get something you will enjoy spending your money on.

Are you looking to sell the car Do you have pics of the car I am interested .

Welcome to the Callaway Forum @ :CAC Sounds like you have had your hands full with the car - a labor of love at first??

It does sound to me like it might be time to move on though - if you really like the 91+ body & dash then I would buy a car done & complete rather than try to transfer everything over -

Now if you are set on the Automatic - that ended in 1989 and none built as B2K's afterwards so that compunds the issue...

There absolutely IS value on ANY of these cars that can be saved - there have been some though, that have been (by the looks of pictures) too far gone and will never be back on the road - that does not sound like it is the case here though(???)

If you need help posting pics, etc. feel free to ask and again, Welcome :m

Could you also send me some pictures of this car's bottom side and behind seats compartment plus any others not posted on this link to vansarski@netscape.net?? Any estimate on cost to ship car to California? Have a pretty good idea of cost to Midwest form Ca. This is definately right year Callaway for me. Don't know about salvage title but have to look? :confused can you also send picture of one dymag?

Thanks Ike :)

I would have to fix the brakes to make it drivable. LF rubber line has a leak and plastic reservoir on master cracked. Shipping to West Coast via Matson would be $996. for the car. The boxes of parts that go with it would be more. The area behind the seats looks new, just blue carpet and Bose speakers. The only bad spot on the carpet shows in the pictures, I think something was spilled while at the body shop. I will send the pictures I have, and try to get underside pictures this weekend.

Here is one that I fixed 89. I had to have the frame pulled and I also put a full front carriage in it. It also had blue guts.

Decided to sell. A local buyer strung me along for almost two weeks. Now waiting for another to arrange an inspection.

Thanks, Mike.

I don't know how much work you had to do, but it looks good so far. I actually like the blue interior. Good luck on the sale.
