What type of after market rear end fits a 60?

What are you looking to acomplish by changing out the rear end. Are you looking to just eliminate the leaks? or are you looking to switch to a stronger unit or add disk brakes .

I would like the leaks gone also maybe posi traction. Someone told me that the rear end should be replaced. I just bought the car and want to make it more drivable. Dont want to spend money on a rear end that needs to be fixed on a regular bases. Can I change this rear end to posi and make it a good trans?

You ought to be able to switch it over to a posi rear end with little or no problem. Out in CA there ought to be a lot of shops around that can do this for you at a reasonable price. Get in touch with one of the Corvette clubs in your area for references.

There is a company called US Gear that makes a new posi unit that I understand will fit in a standard open carrier.

I think it runs around $400. I'm sure it would be quite a bit stronger than an original posi, too.

I had a 1957 years ago that the owner before me installed a 10 bolt posi and a 5 speed out of a 1990 Camaro. It fit and road well.
