What would be the best upgrade for new gears?

On a stock L98 88 how much faster would new gears make it? I though gears only changed the ratio allowing a higher top speed. As well allowing the C4 to experience longer shift times.

depends on what you want 4:11 type gearing is hell out of the hole but terrible on the highway. 2:73 awful out of the hole but you can cruise at over 100 mph for hours with no strain . but some engine compatability with either is required to some extent :confused steve

For an 88 with an auto the lowest gear (highest numberically) I would use would be a 3.54. I would say the dame for the 4+3 the same or maybe a 3.73
