1994, black/black Coupe

...some of the features are as follows:

6-speed
Dual power sport seats
1 (painted) top
FX3

The car has 190,000 miles on it - paint is scratched on most panels, "as the German Shepard used to jump on it as the owner came home"...

Solid top has chips/cracks in the paint and black paint, while shiny, has etching and spotting all over it!

Driver seat town @ bolster & lower portion
CD won't eject
Possibly an FX3 issue (???)
drivers power hatch switch does not function
antenna is stuck in up mode.

door weather stipping is shot - says he will put some new ones on - other seals are not great... but probably hold the water out, as the car did not smell musty...

Car is stone stock - claims Mobil 1 is used only and when looking into the valve cover, he showed me how clean it was...

I did not drive the car (yet) but thought I would ask - this is for a friend who is looking for a 6-spd driver...

What do you think is a fair asking price/ decent buying price?

Thanks in advance!

I was going to say $5K tops, but without looking at the car it really hard to say. Weatherstripping can be expensive, Painting it can cost several thousand (if it is that bad), 190K on the clock? If things haven't gone wrong yet, they will. If he has another car to drive if the vette goes down he'll probably be alright. But should expect some repairs along the way. I'm sure you know enough to help him out considerably. Good luck.

I agree with Tom, this car has many problems in it's future. Your friend will invest another $4k - $5k just to get the car looking like a $9K car and with that many miles, it's only worth around $7000 to $8000 if it looked great.

thanks guys! I figured 6k tops - 7k, only if you factor it is a local car and my friend doesn't have to go across the country for another one...

She is planninging on it being a track car so a repaint won't happen however, it does still play into the values should it have to be re-sold...

One thing I did not mention - and the seller has NO CLUE!

It has the Z07 option w/ big wheels all around, and J55 big brakes :cool

i'd offer him 3500 bucks. 190k on the clock and everything else is SHOT. you could spend 5k just bringing it upto par. brakes, clutch, tires, misc stuff. easy 5k to get it up to snuff.

for 10k you could find alot nicer car than this with about 120k less miles. :L

Mic, so true!

Crazy thing is, the guy is asking 12k or 12.5k :ugh

dreaming!

Z07 makes it worth offering - but not crazy money!;LOL

The Z07 does make some difference (30mm front sway bar and the higher rate springs as well as the big brakes), as does the fact that it will be a track car mainly, but I still stand by my $5k figure, unless they can come up with some documentation for items that have been repaired/replaced recently.

recently as in the last month!....lol :L

Chris,

for that money i think you could easily find the SAME car with 50k in miles. there has to be alot more of these out there! for 15-16k i bet you could find a 100k 90-91 ZR1. didn't those come with the J55 option since it needed them? seems like a better alternative if he wants a track car. :upthumbs

...yeah, but my friend wants to spend 5-6k

guy's asking price is dreaming!

Your friend could find a '84 - '89 with just over 100K, most everything working, interior and paint in good condition for that money.

That guy's asking price is fishing for a sucker.

Well, you could bring documentation to show the owner what the value of the car is and how much it would take to make the car to where she wants it to be. Weatherstrip is almost $1000 right there, paint job is at least $2500. And what about the opti and water pump? I'm sure that car has seen a lot with it's 190,000 miles!
