:L I have an 89 and love the look at night of the dash, it's like a cockpit. I'm impressed at how good it reads out in the day time also. I was just wondering if all the C4's were like this or did they change later? I'm a new owner and have a lot to learn. Thanks

Digital dash began in 1984 and was used until 1989. In 1990 a "hybrid" dash used a digital speedo with analog tach and guages.
Welcome to the world of Corvette ownership and the CAC.

Many people dont like the digital dash. I personally love it. It makes the car for me. Nothing like looking at the guages at night with the top down. I dont think the cockpit feel of the C4 will ever be duplicated.

this one from 90-96

Great layout w/ analog tach.
I also like the fact that the speedo is right in your face. A quick glance is all it takes.

I like the digital dash.

I don't like changing the bulbs behind it.

And I'm really not too thrilled with the digital tach.
An analog tach is much easier to track. IMHO

I like both the early and late dash set ups on C4's... The late style is nice because you have everything at a glance, with (on the later 93+?) digital and analog readouts for oil temp, volts, and coolant temp (and tranny temp on autos) There is also nothing like the feel of the later style... everything is turned in towards the driver, and really takes the cockpit feel to a new level.

The early C4 dash just looks sweeeeeet.... it is probably one of the cleanest looking, fully functional interiors ever produced on any car.

The car press hated the 90-96 dash and made fun of it relentlessly. It seems a bit dated, but extremely functional, and a beloved characteristic of the C4. The mph readout is exactly right tested with GPS.

Those dashes are sweet!

Only 12.5 average mpg with 90 miles on the trip odeometer. Somebody has a heavy foot!!! LOL

Given a choice (which I had),

Gotta love the Atari dash....

I love the Atari dash. My friends like it to. They ask how old the car is and are kind of amazed that technology like that existed in the 80's!:L:L:L

:cool Mmm, mm, mm, sure does look good. I've always loved the design, even when the media was complaining about it. IMHO it just looks right with the C4 design.

The only thing I dislike about it is the bottom part of my tach is getting a little dimmer then the rest of the display, and how when you jump on the throttle how the tach can't keep up, It doesnt matter to me since I have a automatic, but if I had a 4speed it might be a little difficult.

Mine has a little querk too, the top part of the Speedo gets dim as the gas gauge goes down. I'm planning on changing out all of the bulbs this spring along with cleaning up all the contacts. Oh well, the things I'll put up with just because it looks cool. :L
