What would a 1979 black on black be worth it has a auto trans, fair body condition not started in 8 plus years.the car is in Michigan in a detatched garage with no heat and not stored proper ,It was not put up for storage at all. I think it has the L82 motor.ac,power windows, power brakes, power steering, power locks and sport mirrors.mileage unknown. So any one with a idea of what it might be worth?

Well I bought my 79 back in 1995, at that point it had been stored in an unheated shed in Princton, NJ and literally every gasket and weather stripping needed to be replaces, Oil poured out the right valve cover gasket on the trip home, But once it had some fresh gas and a new battery in it, it did start. But the tire were so old, My mechanic buddy said they'd explode before they went flat?:L But I think it sounds like a good candidate for restoring if it is an L-82, but I'd check all the numbers if it were me. My 79 had every part original. i never replaced any of them, but rather I had each one rebuilt and I reinstalled them one by one. The car only had a documented 29.250 miles on the car so it was worth it to keep it original, I won a NCRS second flight award with the car as well as six trophys at different corvette shows. Good luck

I've lost touch with the values. Take what a good condition car might be worth, calculate the costs of the projects (double that to factor in the projects you missed and the fact that they cost more than you think) and subtract that to arrive at a starting point.

If you aren't handy you are better off buying one in good shape. I did about half the work on mine and I'm still upside down, mostly related to the cost of a good paint job.

But just how can you put a Price on Good Friends,Good Food and Good Beer,Bob???:D:D:D

For $2000 you wouldn't be out much. The parts are worth far more than that and ya might get lucky for once in your life.:D
