whats this hose for?

HI EVERYBODY.......
The last few days i have been trying to find a small leak and i think i found it.on the right part of the radiator there are 2 small hoses. one goes to the reservoir, the other goes to the the throttle body( i think).my question is what is this hose for and is coolant inside or tranny,power steeringfluid?its this hose that leaks a small amount of red fluid where it meets the radiator.whats crazy is, it only leaks when the motor is off and cooled off after about and hour.if i take it to the dealer he wont see the leak.im thinking about taking off the plastic radiator cover and seeing if the hose clamp is loose but it looks a bit much to remove this cover.if someone could shed some light on this it would be great......thanks.......:)
 
Coolant does go to the throttle body, its designed to prevent icing I believe, in colder climates. This could be the hose your looking at.
 
Yes, this hose goes to the throttle body to prevent icing. It contains red dexcool.

Fyi. I though I had a leak at the same place. I found dexcool as oppose that you; when engine was running. It was wet at the throttle body junction. I remove it, installed new clamp. Still wet. That was the water pump going south. The seal under the shaft was leaking. The dexcool was dripping on the inner side of the pulley. With the rotation when engine running, the pulley was spraying dexcool on the throttle body hose.
 
Thanks guys for shedding some light on this,at first i could not understand why you would want to send coolant to the intake,but i never realised that it was to keep it warm on cold days.i feel better knowing that its coolant in there rather than ATF.im sure losing a few drops of dexcool during cool down wont be the end of the world until i figure out what my next move is.

A few drops here and a few drops there add up. Plus, if it's seeping now it won't get better with time. Another thing to consider, when the coolant cools, it contracts, normally the system pulls coolant from the coolant reservoir, (commonly called the overflow tank). When this occurs it is supposed to draw a solid column of coolant, no air, but if you have a seep in any hose or line, air will take the path of least resistance over a fluid anyday. So you MAY be drawing air into the system from the line that is seeping. This will eventually cause an air pocket, most likely someplace in the heads, this causes a hot spot and next thing you know you will need to be reaching for your wallet, large bills or a credit card will be the cost.
One more thing to consider, DEXCOOL does not like exposure to the air, again if air is entering the system it's not good, no matter what the reason.

this weekend im going to try and take off the plastic radiator cover and and see if its a loose hose clamp issue.if not im going to take to the dealer and let them fix it. hopefully THE GMPP will cover it.......
 
Just my .02, I also own a 2002 coupe, had to replace water pump this fall, leaking on ground, small puddle after running, as it cooled, also leaked on belts and pulleys. Warrenty paid for pump change and I talk them in to all belts as well.
The water puimps are know to start out as small leaks.
