Did GM off a magnesium wheel in 96' or am I thinking of 97' on?

According to the Model Center pages, 98 was the first year for RPO N73, Magnesium Wheel. They were $3000 in 98 and 99, and dropped to $2000 untill 2004 when they were $1500.
