Stone Chip Prevention (behind the doors)

What is the best product for preventing stone chips between the door and rear wheel area?
I have seen 2 so far. the peel on protector film and the plastic guard that secures to the wheel well (by screws or tape?). Which looks and works best?

I had X-Pel installed on my vette nose , rocker panels and wheel wells. The same product also sold by other companies is called Clearbra, Stongard, and Ultrashield. Clear so your paint shines through. Much better protection then Cleartastic which i do not reccommend.

It's really a matter of choice. We created our product for the person who does not want to permanently glue something to there paint/vehicle. This is even a bigger hit with the NCRS guys and gals.
Our kits stay in place via static cling. Which means our kits are removable and reusable. (Most just leave them on) But it's comforting to know you have the option.
We have wind tested up to 160mph in dry and in wet conditions. Stayed rock solid.

Since there is no glue, application is very easy. You apply them yourself rather then paying more money to have someone else put them on. Our kits are practically invisible once applied.

The film that you’re referring to, claims its 8mil thick. However I believe it's only approx 6 mil and approx.2 mil of glue.
Our film has no adhesives. Our film is a true 8 mil.

Using the 3M option is the best protection for your car. Will not damage the paint and proven technology since the 1960's. I've read too many reports from individuals that stated that Cleartastic does not stay on and does not protect from chips. Cleartastic is better then nothing but no comparison to X-pel, Stongard, or Clearbra.

Speed is not a problem.
Like I've stated we have wind tested at 160 mph in dry and wet conditions.
We have received mail from customers who have used our product and ran many sessions at Willow Springs (Cal.) for a total of 2 to 2 1/4 hours on the track, at speeds to 125 in the straights.
1 1/2 hours on the track at Buttonwillow at speeds over 100+
There are many posts of people who have used our product for long trips at various speeds. All very happy they used our kits.

As far as protection,
I would appreciate if you would email me where you read reports that our product does not or did not protect a customer’s paint. Please send me a link. I would personally like to look into this matter!
We constantly receive letters and read post about how well our product holds up and protects there paint. By far the most aggressive hit was emailed to me and posted on another forum of someone hitting a curb! Our piece was ripped, however it saved the paint. The beauty was he just had to replace the piece. Removing is easy and leaves no residue.

All this can be backed up by searching this and other forums.
The 3m product is good. We are just another alternative to protecting our beloved cars...
Thanks,

Ed
My email is edgentile@cleartastic.com

I use Clearlastic on long trips.

Clearlastic stayed on my 82 for a 1000 mile round trip last summer. I only wish they made something to replace the bra.
