OEM C6 wheels have a different offset then C5 wheels. There are aftermarket C6 styled wheels that are designed to fit C5's, with the correct offset.

Seeing as how you are in South Bend...go on Tire Rack's web site and check out their wheels on your model of car...in case you didn't know they are located on the west side of town off of Cleveland RD just pass the bypass...first road to the left

Correct. You can use OEM C6 wheels, but you'll need hub-centric spacers in the rear to compensate for the smaller offset.

i would really like to have my stock wheels( polished alum.) in black chrome. can that be done?

It can be done, but is not a good idea on street driven cars. If you check the black chrome exterior pieces offered for sale in the WCC catalog, you will see a disclaimer that they are for show cars only. Real black chrome is beautiful, but will suffer permanent spotting from water that is allowed to bake in the sun. In the early 80s, Yamaha released a series of motorcycles called the "Midnight Special" - all the pieces that were normally chrome were rendered in black chrome. The bike was a hit, but Yamaha got killed with warranty claims from water spotting.

If you really like the look, there is a "black chrome look" powder coating that looks very close to the real thing, but without the spotting/staining issue.
